State description

Maine (the area of 86,5 sq km) is located on the North-Eastern United States, at the point of convergence of two mountain ranges (Appalachian and Notre Dame), two countries (USA and Canada) and two cultures (in the North lie the French-speaking regions of Canada, and the population of man has retained a strong British roots).

Forests and picturesque lakes still cover about 90% of the territory of the “Pine State”, and the cool climate makes it something like Alaska, which is greatly facilitated by the rocky seashore, many convenient harbors and the obvious orientation of all local life to the sea.

The capital of Maine, the city of Augusta, is a fairly spacious and green city that has more political and cultural than economic significance for the life of the state. The largest city in the state is Portland.

The state’s natural attractions include Acadia National Park at the foot of Cadillac Mountain, the unique Maine desert near Freeport, the state’s largest lake is Moosehead, the picturesque Cape Cod Peninsula and the rugged bay area around it.
