Medical
licensing is far more complex and time consuming than most
realize. PLS can help you provide your doctors with the tools
and information they need to smoothly navigate the licensing
process.
1. Reciprocity
Reciprocity is a thing of the past.
You can no longer send the Board an application and fee
and get a license within a couple of weeks.
Contrary to popular belief, holding a license in one state does
not mean that it will be easy to get a license in another state.
In fact, every license held creates another step in the
process.
Medical Boards now require that your doctors complete detailed
and lengthy applications and forms. An
average licensure process takes 8-hours to accurately complete
the initial research and
paperwork… and this is the easy part.
Lengthy verification processes.
State Boards now require that your doctors provide direct
verification of their education, post-graduate training, license
verification, work history, hospital privileges, references, and
several additional profiles, queries and reviews. The
verification process will leave your doctors searching for
information, making dozens of phone calls (at least 4 calls per
verification to do it properly), waiting on hold and at times
getting nowhere!
2. Eligibility Minimums have been imposed
Just because your doctor
holds a license in one state does not mean that they will be
eligible for a license in your state.
There are 10 states that now require that
your doctors take an $800, general medicine competency exam if
they do not meet certain eligibility minimums. Before recruiting
a new physician you MUST know your candidate’s
eligibility or you will lose those that run into eligibility
issues.
3. Long Review processes
Board estimated averages range from 3 months to
9 months. There are measurable steps that can be taken to cut
through the red tape and get your doctors licensed fast..
